The PoolRX Unit contains an alloy rod, which is packed with minerals inside of it. The minerals in the middle of the rod dissolve out of the rod and go into the water within 4 to 6 hours. - These minerals are rejuvenated when they pass back over the alloy rod during circulation. - The unit needs to be placed in the pump basket in the motor, where it gets good water flow over it to rejuvenate the minerals. - The unit needs to be replaced every year, However the minerals are lost through backwash and splash-out and need to be replaced every 6 months with a PoolRX Booster
